Week #6

Procrastination is the enemy.

This week was supposed to be a bit easier in the assignments department. Instead of doing them slowly over the course of the whole week, here I am on a Monday with none of them ready for submission. The instant gratification monkey took over and took charge. Thankfully, this week was light enough to make this mistake without much consequence, not every week will be like this. I need to buckle up.

Grad school aside, this week was the famous Folsom Street Festival here in San Francisco. I had only ever seen YouTube clips of the festival and giggled at the absurdity and extravagance of the festival from all the way across the globe. But being here, in all its grime and glory, the festival represents freedom. Freedom to act how you want, freedom to dress how you want, and lastly, freedom to love how you want. This level of freedom is seldom, if ever, seen back in India and comes across as a culture shock. I live right next to Folsom Street and went out cycling around the area to explore and absorb the energy that was present on the streets.

Despite the festival being something I will likely not participate in, the sense and spirit of freedom in the streets is energizing.

Also, Madhurima gifted me a new Apple Watch for my birthday, and let's just say the battery life has totally changed how I use the device.
