Week #3
This is only the third edition, and I am already changing the series name. sigh
This week was amazing as I got to meet all the professors and peers in my Interaction Design master's cohort. I looked at some prior art in interaction design and discussed what the future holds. All in all, I got to nerd out about interaction design with a bunch of other interaction design nerds.
One thing I did see and hear a lot is, of course, Artificial Intelligence. The majority of the questions from the students were about AI and its related concerns. How can we use AI? Will AI take our jobs? How do I design for AI? We even had one whole session on AI; there's supply where there's demand. I loved that session, by the way!
But the bubble is real, and I am not really sure what to do when it bursts. Should I hoard a lot of cash to invest when valuations naturally deflate? That will be tough considering I am unemployed and living in one of the most expensive areas in the whole world. Jokes aside, it is making me concerned about the market as a whole and the impact it will have on everything else.
Why can't we be a little more calm about transformative technologies? What happens when the two biggest markets in the US, tech and finance, collapse? I don't know. Until then, I will be a student and absorb as much as I can this next year, both from school and from San Francisco.
